ProfessionalThe South Bend Silver Hawks are a Class A minor league baseball team, affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks, that plays in the Midwest League. The city of South Bend was awarded a Midwest League franchise in 1987. The team's home park is Coveleski Regional Stadium, built in 1987 and named for Stanley Coveleski, the Hall of Fame pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, who once resided in South Bend. The stadium seats 5,000. |
High SchoolSince legendary coach John Wooden patrolled the sidelines of the former South Bend Central High School, South Bend/Mishawaka has been home to great high school athletics as well as host to numerous state all-star and championships competitions. |
