The University of Notre Dame is a famed Catholic research university established in 1842 by Father Edward Sorin. Consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful campuses with its architecture, landscaping and lakes. Musts for any visitor include the Grotto, Main Building (Golden Dome), Hesburgh Library (Touchdown Jesus) and Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
The University is currently organized into five colleges: the College of Arts and Letters, the College of Science, the College of Engineering, the School of Architecture and the Mendoza College of Business. Each of the schools has consistently ranked among the top schools in the country. In 2013, the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business ranked No. 1 for the fourth year in a row in Bloomberg Businessweek's annual survey of "The Best Undergraduate Business Schools". In 2009, Notre Dame ranked number 18 overall among all national universities and first among Catholic universities.
