Film offers innumerous ways to come into contact with death, although rarely through discussing the subject at hand. To find it, one often needs to seek out documentaries, of which there is a subset of film portraits that serve as a final testament from the dying. While those films are often sober and serious, this new acclaimed documentary profiles André Ricciardi, a goofball who has no intention of allowing a stage-four cancer diagnosis from stripping him of either his eccentricity or his enjoyment of life's oddities. His sobering diagnosis, complete irreverence, and insatiable curiosity collide and try to coexist as he embarks on an unexpected journey learning how to die happily and ridiculously without losing his sense of humor.
