Overview

Ten Thousand Villages Mishawaka is a non-profit organization staffed by volunteers. We sell fair trade, hand-made products from Ten Thousand Villages USA, including fair trade home decor, personal accessories such as scarves, jewelry, and bags, and fair trade plant and garden accessories. Additionally, we support the local Soup for Success program, a life skills training program for women through Church Community Services of Elkhart. We sell fair trade coffee, fair trade olive oil, and fair trade, anti-slavery chocolate from Equal Exchange and Divine Chocolate. Ten Thousand Villages Mission Statement To create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term fair trading relationships. As a founding member of the World Fair Trade Organization, Ten Thousand Villages works directly with artisans whose employment benefits their families and communities. Many of our artisans give back to the community by forming co-ops which develop projects such as medical centers, child care centers, schools, wells, and sanitation for the villages. 70% of our artisans are women, many of whom are sole wage earners for their families who would not be able to find employment without the artisan groups we work with.
