Top Attractions

A popular place for families, Potawatomi Zoo is home to more than 400 animals. They include a rhino, tigers, a lion and more. Construction is underway on an exciting new giraffe exhibit. 

South Bend's Museum District has multiple interesting places to visit: Studebaker National Museum, The History Museum and the Civil Rights Heritage Center. Studebaker leans into automotive history and draws visitors from around the world. The History Museum dives deep into the history of our region while the Civil Rights Heritage Center is committed to educating on historical and contemporary issues of social justice and civil rights. 

Outdoor Recreation 

If you're inclined to visit the outdoors, there are plenty of open spaces to explore around The Bend. Howard Park and the River Lights are notable in downtown South Bend. During the summer, the East Race Waterway is popular with adventure seekers. Same goes for Rum Village Adventures, an aerial ropes course that takes you over obstacles as high as 60 feet in the air. The Mishawaka River Walk's paved paths are one of the best ways to explore the St. Joseph River and several different parks. Potato Creek State Park is one of the most popular parks in Indiana.

Live Performances 

Attending live performances is a staple in The Bend, whether it's a local band or national touring act. The Morris Performing Arts Center brings in large music and off Broadway performances. Nearby, the South Bend Civic Theatre is a vibrant community offering. Live music dots the calendar in Mishawaka most nights, especially during the summer.
