Overview
In this program Charles Beeker, Director of Indiana University’s Center for Underwater Science and Academic Diving, explores the research, documentation, and policy initiatives that led to the designation of the J.D. Marshall and the Muskegon as protected historic shipwreck sites. The lecture also presents current research on the Civil War-era steamboat Alice Dean, burned in 1863 during Morgan’s Raid after ferrying Confederate troops across the Ohio River near Mauckport, Indiana.
