7 Instagrammable Places in The Bend
There probably isn’t a single more photographed landmark in The Bend than Notre Dame’s iconic Golden Dome.
But the Instagram-worthy visuals don’t stop there. These are the places sure to earn a double tap from your followers.
Notre Dame's Campus
We already mentioned the Golden Dome, which is sure to draw your attention.
Other must-see landmarks include the “Word of Life” mural (commonly known as Touchdown Jesus), the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Grotto. If you’re a sports fan, add Notre Dame Stadium to the list for good measure.
I Heart SB
When in downtown South Bend, you’re likely to stroll by this sign. It’s difficult not to stop and snap a photo to commemorate your time visit.
South Bend River Lights
Few things in The Bend are more picturesque than South Bend’s River Lights, which come to life after dark. These interactive lights wash over the St. Joseph River with many different colors. Sometimes they’re even themed for holidays and specific events.
The River Lights are best viewed from Seitz Park (currently closed for construction), Colfax Bridge, Island Park and the Jefferson Bridge. We recommend parking in downtown South Bend and taking a walk to find your favorite vantage point.
Shiojiri Niwa Japanese Garden
A traditional Japanese strolling garden, Shiojiri Niwa is one of Mishawaka's must-visit parks. It bursts to life in the spring. It’s tranquility is unmatched, but it’s the landscaping and blooms on different plants that will capture the attention of your camera lens.
Mishawaka River Walk
There are several different ways to interact with the St. Joseph River around The Bend. Mishawaka offers some of the best at its Riverwalk. It connects several city parks and features sweeping views of the river, plus public art.
Potato Creek State Park
There’s no shortage of city, state and county parks to choose from around The Bend. Potato Creek State Park, however, stands out from the crowd. Its opportunities for exploration feel boundless, whether you want to hop in a kayak and glide through Worster Lake or meander down a trail. It’s a great place to escape into the outdoors.
