Sometimes during your travels there might be need for a dose of caffeine. Or maybe you're just in search of a cozy nook in which to hang out for awhile. Take a look at some of the spots where you can enjoy a cup of whatever gets you going.
Caffé Capriccio
Looking for a little taste of Italy? Caffé Capriccio offers up a whole lot of that with exquisite coffee and treats.
Chicory Café
A local favorite, the New Orleans-inspired Chicory Café started with an anchor location downtown South Bend and has since added another in downtown Mishawaka. Its specialty coffees change by the season (we're partial to the cozy flavors as fall sets in) and the house blend keeps the regulars coming back. Don't forget to add some beignets when you're hungry.
DeLo's Café
If you're wandering the South Bend Farmers Market, chances are you'll smell DeLo's before stepping into the booth. Order a coffee to kickstart your morning then browse everything else the mom and pop operation sells, including several popcorn flavors and a variety of sweets.

Java Café
Breakfast sandwiches? Yes. Baked goods? Yep. Lunch menu? That's right. And then there's the coffee, great coffee. Java Café, new to downtown South Bend on the main floor of the Barnes & Thornburg building, offers breakfast and lunch, plus fantastic coffee options.
The Local Cup
The Local Cup is a volunteer-run coffee shop located in South Bend's Near Northwest Neighborhood. This unique coffee shop runs on a “pay-it-forward” model, so pay what you can and enjoy a coffee or latté from locally sourced ingredients.
South Bend Chocolate Café
Yes, this downtown South Bend spot is better known for its hot chocolate. But the coffee is also worth your time. Better yet, order a local favorite — the kaffee wein. It's half coffee, half hot chocolate and a whole lot of goodness.

Take Some of The Bend's Coffee Home
There are a couple local coffee companies worth knowing that don't have a brick-and-mortar location. You can find their coffee at local cafés and stores around The Bend.
- Bendix Coffee: Can be found at several locations, including at Purple Porch Co-Op. PEGGS, the downtown South Bend breakfast spot, has its own blend.
- Importin' Joe's Ethiopian Coffee: Delicious coffee with a purpose, Importin' Joe's is a Black-owned coffee business that seeks to support local community initiatives and provide assistance to orphans in Ethiopia.
