crhc:film | American Doctor
Overview
Join a unique double viewing of American Doctor, exploring the profound human rights crisis in Gaza and some of the medical professionals who have witnessed it.
American Doctor follows three American physicians—Palestinian, Jewish, and Zoroastrian—united by a singular oath to save lives. After volunteering in hospitals besieged by violence, these doctors return home determined to advocate for the patients and colleagues they left behind, transitioning their battle from the front lines of war to the halls of Congress.
This film offers a vital look at the intersection of medicine and politics, highlighting the personal sacrifices of those who refuse to look away. It invites us to reflect on our shared responsibility as citizens of a democracy and the enduring resilience of those seeking to protect the sanctity of human life amidst a global crisis.
The first screening will be on Tuesday, November 10 at the Civil Rights Heritage Center. Following the film, we invite you to a robust discussion on the unfolding tragedy in Gaza, and why it matters to people in South Bend.
The second screening will be on Sunday, November 15 at the Browning Cinema at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. This is a free, but ticketed screening. Visit https://performingarts.nd.edu/event/20271/american-doctor-2026/.
