Insights in History - From Muskets to Homesteads: The Revolutionary Veterans Who Built New Lives in Michiana

The History Museum 808 W Washington St South Bend, IN 46601

Overview

The sounds of the American Revolution were never heard in Michiana, but the legacy of that struggle reached our region in a remarkable way. After helping forge a new nation, many Revolutionary War veterans journeyed west and made their homes in the Michiana area. Today, their final resting places can be found in local cemeteries, serving as enduring reminders of the courage and dedication that shaped America’s history. This Insights in History, presented by Archivist and St. Joseph County Historian Travis Childs, will uncover the lives and legacies of these veterans and highlight their unique connection to our community. A tour of "Revolution on the Frontier" will be offered after the program.
