Based on just the first half of Emily Brontë's classic 1847 novel, Fennell wanted to give the vibes of a young girl reading the intense and destructive relationship between Catherine and Heathcliff, where played by Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi which naturally quickly allows the novel about heartthrobs to translate easily to the screen.
