As the calendar turns into November, we're starting to make the transition toward cooler temperatures and (gasp!) maybe even a little snow.
But that's no reason to stop exploring. November is a time to bundle up and stay outside. It's a time to catch a show. It's a time where you can dive into history. Let us show you how.
Notre Dame Football Home Games
It's been great to welcome fans back to Notre Dame Stadium this fall and November offers a couple more opportunities to catch the Fighting Irish in person. They host Navy on Nov. 6 and wrap up the home schedule Nov. 20 with Georgia Tech. If you're looking to make a last-minute football season visit, don't forget to check out our Game Day Guide and must-do traditions.
Broadway Returns to Downtown South Bend
Live shows went away for quite a long time, but they're coming back to the Morris Performing Arts Center in downtown South Bend. The American Theatre Guild is bringing back Broadway shows, starting Nov. 3 with RENT. Now in its 25th year, this is the last chance to see RENT as a touring production.
Skating Returns to Howard Park
Dipping temperatures ushers in one of the Midwest's best cold-weather activities: skating on the Howard Park ice trail, which includes a bridge and loops around a state-of-the-art playground. Although an exact date hasn't been set, skating will return in November. Season passes are already on sale.
Even more, the park will also in November launch the Howard Holiday Market. The outdoor market will feature local entrepreneurs and artists with unique goods.
Manufacturing Victory at the Museums
We're taking a step back in time with this enthralling exhibit at The History Museum and Studebaker National Museum. "Manufacturing Victory" chronicles the contributions of local companies and workers in times of war dating back to the Civil War. It's on display until later this winter.
Late Fall Hikes Around The Bend
Sure, there's less foliage to draw our eyes as we get into late fall. But that's no reason to pack up the hiking boots. The trails winding through our area parks are still worth exploring with some great hikes. Potato Creek State Park and St. Patrick's County Park are among the best to visit. If you're looking to make a leisurely walk along the St. Joseph River, head to the Mishawaka River Walk.
