Things to Do this January
The holidays have passed, but the promise of a new year and a new month is here!
There are still plenty of things to do this month around The Bend.
Skate into the New Year
Howard Park in South Bend is wildly popular for its ice trail, not to mention the playground, hot chocolate and firepits. You're also close to several places to grab a bite to eat before or after your visit.
Ironworks Ice Rink in downtown Mishawaka is in its second season and is already a must-visit winter destination. There is an ice trail and traditional rink for skating. There are also other one-of-a-kind ice activities like bumper cars and Icebykes. Don't miss their theme nights!
Notre Dame Hoops and Hockey
Winter sports are taking center court—and ice, for the Irish. And TONS of opportunities to be a part of the action!
The Notre Dame women's basketball team enters ACC conference play, hosting Boston College Jan. 8, North Carolina Jan. 11, Louisville Jan. 15, Miami Jan. 22, and Clemson Jan. 25. The Notre Dame men's basketball team also dives into conference play, hosting Cal Jan. 2, Clemson Jan. 10, Miami Jan. 13, and Boston College Jan. 24. You have four chances to catch Notre Dame hockey on the ice this month, inluding Western Michigan Jan. 2, Ohio State Jan. 23-24, and Bowling Green Jan. 30.
Wear your green, blue, and gold to support the Irish in South Bend.

Try Cross Country Skiing, Tubing and Snowshoeing
We're big into outdoor activities in the winter time — it's a fantastic time to try something new. Cross country skis and snowshoes are available for rent at St. Patrick's County Park. There's also a popular tubing hill. George Wilson Park in Mishawaka is another great place to take the family out for some tubing. Keep in mind, these activities require a great snowpack. It's always best to check snow conditions in advance.
80's Prom Party
The parties don't stop in December! Keep the righteous vibes going at Four Winds Casino's 80's Prom Party Jan. 16. Expect DJ H2, then live music from My 80's band from 8-11 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for best constumes.
Explore Indoors
South Bend is home to special history that can be explored while visiting The History Museum, Oliver Mansion and Studebaker National Museum. Missing Notre Dame football? Get your fix with The History Museum's Rockne: Life & Legacy on view through May 31.
The Indiana Dinosaur Museum, is an exciting place to spend a chilly afternoon. Warm up with a stop by the South Bend Chocolate Cafe and tour the South Bend Chocolate Company as well on your visit.
